2016 Native American Classic

2016 Native American Classic

Tohono O'odham Community College will host the 2nd annual Native American Classic November 17-19. All games and festivities will take place at Pima Community College's West Campus. The NAC will showcase some of the best junior college competition from across the United States.  The primary goals for the "NAC" are to eliminate social barriers, provide an opportunity to gain familiarity with Native American culture, help event goers understand and appreciate Native American culture, promote Native American collegiate athletes and give young Native students an opportunity to learn about different post-secondary educational opportunities. The "NAC" will feature live stream basketball as well as halftime entertainment by Native American dancers & singers; live music by local bands and a Native American food sale.

This year's men's field includes the defending NJCAA Division 1 National Champion Salt Lake Community College, Midland College (TX), New Mexico Junior College, Glendale Community College, Pima Community College, Pascua Yaqui and host TOCC. The women's field boasts the NJCAA Division 2 runner up Illinois Central, Division 2 semifinalist Pima Community College, Division 1 national tournament team Gillette College (WY), Glendale Community College, Arizona Christian University JV, Dine College and Tohono O'odham Community College
